What is sophrology?

Sophrology is based on controlled breathing exercises and gentle movements. These aim to help you become aware of your sensations and also to achieve muscle relaxation.
 
It is also based on visualisation exercises mainly guided by the voice of the sophrologist. These exercises aim to make you feel positive and pleasant emotions that you will then be able to reactivate in your daily life.

For example for stress management, breathing exercises will allow you to become aware of your sensations and hence evacuate your stress.

To improve concentration, the exercises will allow a better oxygenation of your brain and thus activate your mental functions.

To release muscular tensions, controlled breathing and muscular contractions that we preform during the sessions will allow you to relax and attain a state of well-being.

How a session takes place

Thanks to all the information gathered during our first meeting, I will design à tailored program just for you and thus give you an idea of how long the counseling will approximatively last for.

Generally, a program lasts form 8 to 12 sessions. Each session lasts about an hour.

Usualy, I suggest 1 session per week; this pace can be adapted to fit you particular needs and obligations.

A session usualy consists of a time where I will guide you through the exercices, proceeded and followed by moments during which we will discuss.

Important to know

I will provide you with paper documents and recordings of the sessions so that you can do the exercises when you go back home.

To truely benefit from the sessions, it is important that you repeat the exercises regularly between our sessions, either at home or  at work.

Indeed it is though repetition that you will maximize the effects of the method; these exercises that practice together will become your toolbox that you will use in your daily life.
